What Is the EU Settlement Scheme?

The EU Settlement Scheme enables EU, EEA, and Swiss nationals—and certain family members—to obtain settled or pre‑settled status and continue living, working, and accessing public services in the UK post-Brexit.

Who Can Still Apply?

You must meet one of the following:

  • You lived in the UK by 31 December 2020
  • You’re an eligible joining family member, and you have reasonable excuses if applying late

Settled vs Pre‑Settled Status

  • Settled status = you’ve lived in the UK for 5 years continuously
  • Pre‑settled status = shorter residence, but you can apply for settled status later
  • The application is free, and rights are protected even during pending applications

Missed the Deadline?

The original application deadline was 30 June 2021, but you may still apply if you have “reasonable grounds” for delay—such as being unaware of the scheme or institutional delays.

Answer The Questions Below To Get Your Results.

Are you over the age of 18?

In the UK, a legal presumption exists that entitles anyone to enter into a contract unless an exception applies. One of those exceptions is in the case of a minor. Since 1969 the age of contractual capacity for individuals has been set at 18 and reaching the age of 18 is known as attaining 'majority'. Minors are therefore those who have not attained the age of 18.
